    (Need Box score)   Claflin roars out to a 24-4 first quarter advantage in their Friday night contest against Smoky Valley, the second leg of the Ellsworth Round Robin. Last year, in the Smoky Valley game, Jackie broke her wrist.

      The Wildcats, in the Garden City Community College gym, put away the Lady Elks, 87-63. Jackie scores 40 points in the first three periods, and ends up with 46. 


1996-97

    The Wildcats improve to 7-0 with the 77-53 victory over St. John, as Jackie comes off the court with 47 points. Amanda Magette, with several assists from Jackie, cans 14. 
    Lady Tiger Caley Carter, a six-foot sophomore, leads the St. John offense with 17 points.

  (Need Box) Thus far, the Wildcats' Central Prairie League schedule has been a romp. In their first contest in February, the Wildcats take on Otis-Bison, in front of another overflow crowd at the Claflin High School Gymnasium. 
      
  (Need Box desperately) On Friday, the Cats travel to Stafford to take on the Lady Trojans. While Claflin is putting up 30 points in the first quarter, Stafford struggles and can only claim a solitary free throw. By the half, they have managed eight points. The game is another blowout, 93-24, 
           
  (Need Box - where played home or away?) On Tuesday evening, the Wildcats add another jewel to a sparking unbeaten skein. They improve to 16-0 with another blowout, this time quadrupling the scoring efforts of La Crosse, with a 108-25 clobbering of the Lady Leopards. 
  
  (Need Box for most 1996-97 games) The following Friday, the Wildcats travel to St. John, to take on a team they beat 77-53 on the first Friday in January.
  
  (Need box) The twice-a-week schedule continues with a Tuesday evening CPL contest against Fairfield. The Wildcats score at least 20 points in every period, en route to a 94-40 shellacking of the Falcons. 
  
  Regionals 
 (need box) At 7:30, the Claflin fivesome runs out onto the court to start their game against Quivira Heights.

  Back in Dodge, Utica plays tough and the Wildcats find themselves on the losing end of a 20-17 score as the teams go into the locker room after two periods of play.

         The Stucky sisters, senior Emily, 5'4", and sophomore Carly, 5'8" sophomore, both guards, provide Pretty Prairie (23-1) with the best offensive tandem outside of Little River.
    But the Lady Bulldogs are playing without their standout senior center, 6'0" Tara Wade, victim of a knee injury, sidelined near the end of the regular season. Tara's little sister Kary Wade, 5'9" sophomore has been doing an adequate, even respectable job of filling her big 
sister's Reeboks at center.

    The first game Saturday afternoon in Hays will be a consolation affair, a tilt for third-place honors between the Claflin Wildcats and the Weskan Coyotes.
